Context and Purpose
ILNAS
and the University of Luxembourg, through its Interdisciplinary
Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT), are engaged in a
new partnership through the research programme “Technical
Standardisation for Trustworthy ICT, Aerospace, and Construction”.
This new partnership extends and strengthens the previous
collaboration (“Technical Standardisation for the Trusted Use of
Smart ICT” - 2017-2020). The proposed follow-up ILNAS-SnT research
programme 2021-2024 is consciously sector-oriented and targets
three highly relevant growth sectors for Luxembourg’s economy, in
line with the National Standardization Strategy 2020-2030. The
three sectors addressed in this programme are a) ICT, b)
Aerospace, and c) Construction. The economic power of these three
domains is strongly influenced by characteristics related to
trustworthiness, security, and privacy, all major themes in
technical standardisation. Consequently, policies, regulations,
and standards are required to enhance trust in each particular
domain-specific ecosystem.
This research programme allows for common work to accomplish the
individual missions and strategies of the partners. On the one
hand, for ILNAS, it plays a central role for Pillar IV of the
National Standardization Strategy 2020-2030 “Development of
research and education about standardization” and the third
project “Supporting and strengthening the Education about
Standardization and the related research activities” of the
technical standardisation policies implemented by ILNAS for all
three sectors. On the other hand, the University of Luxembourg has
three main targets: research, education and societal impact. The
impact on society is addressed by working with ILNAS through this
research programme and related educational activities.
As in the previous partnership agreement, and considering the
established dynamic of communication and collaboration between the
partners, the purpose of this website is to serve as a means of
information to regularly report on research activities within the
programme to the national market. It is understood that the
research activities within this programme are long-term in nature,
targeting results of scientific value appropriate for peer-review
publication. These results could play a key role to provide
state-of-the-art input to technical standardisation, which can in
turn then be leveraged to bring them to the market.
